I found a wonderful subject for this week’s WordPress prompt, Threes: a fence post on our ranch in McCall, Idaho.
Michelle at the WordPress Daily Post talks about this week’s photo challenge:
In a nutshell, a three-picture story is a way to help you think about storytelling with images. To create a three-picture story, gather:
An establishing shot: a broad photo of your subject.
A relationship: two elements interacting with one another.
A detail: a close-up of one part of your subject.
I immediately went to my library of woodland photographs from our stay at the ranch last July, looking for a series of three. I settled on a fence post deep in the woods where the underbrush had grown tall.
An establishing shot – the old fencepost still holding one strand of barbed wire tight.
A relationship – The fencepost is now home to moss, as it slowly decays.
A detail – A closeup of the moss on the fencepost.
I’ve put the three together in a gallery so you can better see the story. Just click on the first image to page between them.
I think I’ll go back to my Idaho photo library and find more series of three… this is fun!
As always I welcome your comments on this or any other part of my blog. Please feel free to check out other posts with a story in three shots at the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge.
