Weekly Photo Challenge: Horizon

The connection to place, to the land, the wind, the sun, stars, the moon… it sounds romantic, but it’s true – the visceral experience of motion, of moving through time on some amazing machine – a few cars touch on it, but not too many compared to motorcycles. I always felt that any motorcycle journey was special.

One of the great things about being a passenger on a motorcycle is that I have the privilege of being a spectator.  As you can guess, the horizon is a key visual in our travels and something I’ve wanted to capture as we’ve traveled over hills and through valleys, by the ocean and past vast pastures.  In the last few months I’ve dared to start taking out my iPhone, very cautiously, to capture some of the amazing landscapes we drive past.  I never know what I am going to get and its such fun when shots turn out as amazingly as these three did.

Stunning pictures, and even more skillful taken from the back of a motorcycle. I envy you, my wife and I love the west coast USA, the past four years we have taken road trips across a large area of West coast, most recent was Glacier NP, Yellowstone, Teton and Cody. Next year hopefully Route 66 again, LA and then the coast road to San Francisco. I can feel the warmth already.
