Word a Week: Violet – An Adventure

It was certainly an adventure trying to find images to go with this week’s word, violet.

I don’t do violet. I have no clothes, jewelry or accessories that are violet (ok, one sweater that’s a dark purple). It kind of gives me the shivers… do you get that way with a color? Since I’m not attracted to the color I don’t take any photographs of things violet. I have a few shots of wildflowers and an occasional purple flower in a bouquet my husband has given me, but they didn’t really seem like much fun for this prompt.

And then I remembered these!

2Pod Adventure Sandals

When we arrived in Idaho last July I realized I needed some sandals to make it through the heat of the summer. There weren’t many choices for someone who had recently had a hip replacement. I couldn’t do flip-flops, or mules or anything strappy. And then we found these. They were the only pair and they fit perfectly… only drawback? The color!

But I grew to love the sassy little things. They took me everywhere: to the beach, on walks, down to the barn and back, and to my favorite coffee shop 😉 .

Now they wait in my closet for this coming July when we go to Idaho for our next adventure.

As always I welcome your comments on this or any other part of my blog. For more violet images head on over to A Word in Your Ear.

P.S. As I was proofing this post I saw my recent artwork on the side bar and realized that I may not wear or photograph violet, but I certainly use it in my abstract artwork. What a funny thing… I LOVE it there. I guess it’s my adventure in color. 😀

We head to our ranch in McCall, ID the end of June for the whole month of July. Next year at this time we’ll be packing up and heading there for the whole summer since hubby will be retired in May of 2015. It would be fun to meet!

I'd love to hear from you!
