When I saw this week’s prompt, selfie, I wondered if I should feature a reflection me or a shadow me, or just me.
I am no longer embarrassed by my fascination with my own image. I started taking self portraits when I was in college. I set the camera on a tripod and used the timer.
I have a record of birthday selfies going back about 10 years.
Photographic self-portraiture is a legitimate art form, and ‘selfies’ only the newest form. Granted, self-portraiture (whether photographic or any other medium) conjures up thoughts of famous artists, and selfies are any man’s province now with iPhones and other portable devices. But I like that the art form is now so accessible to everyone. Creative self-expression (and reflection 😉 ) is liberating and just plain fun.
As I was writing this post my husband chimed in and told me which of my selfies he loves, so I’ll leave you with the one from last Halloween.
I’m looking forward to seeing my fellow bloggers’ selfies, be they reflection, shadow or just goofy iPhone shots in the bathroom mirror! As always I welcome your comments on this or any other part of my blog.
