I’m not much of a clock watcher, but at my latest temp job I was very aware of the time.
I do temporary clerical jobs now and then to supplement my retirement income. I spent a few days last week in a nice, quiet office with nothing much more to do than organize files. It wasn’t particularly stimulating and so I started watching the clock… or rather, clocks.
They have an office here in California, and one in Texas. So they have two clocks prominently displayed.
At first I thought that was an excellent idea. Hey, it’s great to know whether your co-worker in Texas is there if you have a question. But then, as the day dragged on and I kept looking up at the clock(s), I realized that the one I always checked first was the Texas one which is two hours closer to quitting time. Whenever I lifted my eyes I had a split second of glee until I realized it was the top clock that was correct. 🙁
I decided to stop looking at the clocks so I glanced around the office, and you’ll never guess what I found.
I had my pick of time! Heck, even the digital clocks didn’t agree. All I could do was sigh, since all I wanted to do was go home. It wasn’t until I went into the conference room that I found what I was looking for.
Finally I could go home. 😀
Thank you for visiting. Your comments warm my heart and put a smile in my day.
P.S. I’m sorry I haven’t visited all my blogging friends this week… work got in the way of play!
