Sonel’s Photo Editing Challenge: Unusual Angles

This week Sonel’s Editing Challenge is Unusual Angles

I decided not to head to my existing gallery of edited photos, but to edit some new ones just for the challenge. The first is two Pashmina shawls, hanging from a hook and looked at from below.

Original photograph:

editing challengeI used some CoffeeShop actions that I thought might be interesting. I’ve said which one in each caption if you’d like to experiment. (The CoffeeShop Blog is a terrific resource for free editing actions, textures etc.) I’d love your opinion.

Although it is fun to play with actions someone else has designed, I thought I’d push myself in this editing challenge, so I played with textures in PSE on this next photograph. It is a large lit patio lamp shot from below.

With one of the variations below all I did was boost the color and intensity. The rest of them have one or more of five different textures, utilizing combinations of overlay, difference and exclusion. Tell me which you like!

I had fun with this editing challenge and look forward to seeing more ‘unusual angles’ by other talented photographers. I urge you to visit Sonel’s Photo Editing Challenge.

As usual I welcome your comments on this or any other part of my blog.

Neither is a flower. Fabric shawls with fringe in the first, and a lamp made to look like a palm (metal) in the second. Although I used a kind of flowery texture on the lamp in one of the edits.

Thank you Sonel! Generally when I have this many variations my favorites change over time. Right now I like the Lamplight on Cardboard. I really appreciate your positive comments.

Meghan, these are absolutely fascinating! I love the angles you took the shots from and I can see how fun you had with Rita’s actions. Love the colours! Great textures on the lamplight and I had some difficulty choosing my favourite one because they are all so beautiful, but if I had to choose I would say the Lamplight Cracked is my favourite. 🙂

I am glad to see you had so much fun. Thanks so much for taking part and for sharing hon. Much appreciated. 😀 *hugs*

I'd love to hear from you!
