Sonel’s Photo Editing Challenge: Trees and/or Tree Trunks

I’m participating for the first time in Sonel’s Photo Editing Challenge and this week the theme is Trees and/or Tree Trunks.

Upload the Original Photo as well as the Digital Edited Photo so we can see the difference and be as creative as you want to be, eg. add frames, textures, etc.

Tell us what software/programs and editing methods you used.

This kind of challenge is right up my alley. And as a subject, trees are one of my favorites and I have a lot of photographs that I have digitally altered.

Here is my original for this photo editing challenge.

Here is the photograph edited in Photoshop Elements 8 using the Butterscotch Vintage action I downloaded from The CoffeeShop Blog (love that blog!).

Then I got wild… I added a texture to the original photograph in PSE…

And in the blending mode used “difference” at 100%.  Here is what I ended up with.

drips-and-pods

This was so exciting for me (I created this last spring) I used this photo editing technique with other photographs of trees. Sometimes I used one texture, sometimes more. Here are a few.

I’ve written about my process creating this kind of ‘tradigital art’ in two other posts, Loving Abstract Artwork and I’m in Love with Color.

As I wrote this post I realized I need to get back to doing this kind of art! Thank you Sonel for this terrific photo editing challenge. Since I already know the topic for next week, perhaps I’ll create some NEW work!  Unusual Angles here I come…

Thank you Sonel! I really appreciate the lovely compliments. Now I need to get going on some new work for the angles (although I have one already that I just love).

Meghan, these are just amazing and welcome to the challenge. 🙂 Great shots and I love the editing effects you applied. The photoshop action is just beautiful and those textures are amazing. It certainly gives a different ‘feel’ to every photo. I am so glad you enjoyed this challenge and truly hope to see more of your amazing work. Also, thanks for the links and for taking part. 😀 *hugs*
