After 18 years in season-less Southern California, I am basking in the delicious autumn here in the mountains of McCall, Idaho.
I imagine myself winging around the world finding all the autumns, and yet, if I didn’t know the other seasons (yes there are actually four here), it wouldn’t be such a joy when fall comes.
We’ve had rain on and off every day this week. During the off, Cooper and I have gone walking in the woods.
I even had to go down to the barn to haul out my winter coat, hat and gloves. I have this great pair of mittens. I can use my camera and still keep my hands warm.
Let me take you on a walk around our property.
When I got back from the walk, I realized I really need rubber boots!
Shopping opportunity! This pair of delicious rain boots is heading my way as we speak.
This is what I saw when I walked down to the mail box. Our drive is delightful with golden aspen leaves and rusty pine needles strewn about. Autumn has such wonderful color and texture!
Guess I should have waited for my boots. Just that short walk on a gravel road got my shoes wet!
One thing I miss here is the red of the maples from New England autumns, but with a little hunting I found some red on the forest floor. It’ll do!
I hope you are all enjoying your September, whether it is spring wherever you are, or fall or a non-season 😉 . Nature is amazing in all of her delicious aspects!
