Happy birthday my wonderful hip… you are a year old!
Back story: I developed osteoarthritis in my left hip during the summer of 2011. It advanced extremely quickly and by summer of 2012 I was walking with a cane, on a lot of pain meds and could stay on my feet maybe a couple of hours a day without getting exhausted. I was a great candidate for complete hip replacement surgery which I had a year ago yesterday (2.8.13). Yep, I have a new joint and I’m thrilled at how well it works! Best yet… NO PAIN!
I have the free range of motion now, workout at a gym about three times a week, hike, ride a bike, touch my toes, stand from a squatting position with no help, and dance spontaneously to music when I can 😉 .
So Happy Birthday to my delightful hip, pink ceramic ball and all! You and I are one.
As always I welcome your comments on this or any other part of my blog.
I’d love to hear your random moments of delight. This challenge (or rather non-challenge) is about sharing special moments with each other each week (read here for more info). Please put a link back here, in your post, so others may take part if they wish. Let me know in the comments section if you have any problems linking up. And engage with others! Try to visit at least one other person participating in the challenge, and say hello. Thanks for joining :D. And thank you to everyone who participated last week (here), you ROCK!
[PS… sorry everyone, but I seem to have lost the linky to this week’s challenge (on 2.22.14) so I don’t have all the great participants who joined here. 🙁 ]
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear left hip,
Happy, happy day to you.
P.S. A little hip replacement surgery humor…
