I had a scent-uous and savory Saturday.

A month or so ago I harvested herbs I’d grown and hung them to dry.

savoryWell, the potted herbs are ready to harvest again.

So I decided it was time I put the dried herbs in jars so I have room to dry more.

I downloaded and printed out some free labels for the jars (given to me by a wonderful friend – thanks Jane!).

Then I went to work taking the dried leaves off the stems…

I wish I could share with you the incredible scents I experienced throughout the task. I started with my favorite, rosemary… then moved to thyme… which became another favorite… then marjoram then sage… all were savory, scent-uous and heavenly.

The intense perfumes of the wild herbs as we trod them underfoot made us feel almost drunk.

While I worked I listened to my Madeleine Peyroux Pandora station. For those of you who don’t know Pandora, you can’t pick what song comes next although you can have favorites that play more often. I enjoyed the songs that played for each of my herbs so much, I thought I’d share them with you in lieu of the savory scents I can’t.

When I was looking for a quote to enhance this post, I found the one by Jackqueline du Pre above. I had no idea who she was so I looked her up, and low and behold she was an amazing musician. I simply have to share this brief video with you so you can see her intense passion for life and her music… I think it’s a great way to end my Random Moment of Delight for today.

(To see more of Jacqueline Du Pre’s musical videos go here. Her career as a cellist was cut short when she got multiple sclerosis at age 28, and died at 42. 🙁 She has given me much joy this day tho!)

As always I am so pleased that you visited. Your comments warm my heart and put a smile in my day.

P.S. Which location should I put the labels on the jars?

  1. No worries! I know that blogging “on schedule” is hard. With my fulltime work and my own personal challenge to create with my hands, blogging has taken a back seat. But all is good! I’ll be retired again in six months and will make a come-back… lol. And I’m glad you liked the musician… what a joyous soul she had.

  2. Wow thank you for sharing that musician she was simply amazing and your herby videos did make me giggle a lot! Sorry I’ve not made your moments recently I hope to rectify that x
