Random Moments of Delight #17: Don’t Underestimate the Power of a Cuddle

I didn’t realize how much I’d missed my husband last week, until we took some cuddle time in bed Saturday morning. It was heavenly.

Neither of us has been gone this week, we’ve just been very busy. Too busy to do any cuddling! As I was lying in Tim’s arms yesterday, I felt such love for him. The touch of the cuddle triggered wonderful memories of the long distance relationship we had before I moved in with him.

Tim and I lived 2 hours from each other when we were dating. We got together every weekend and holidays for over six months. One weekend he would drive up to my place and the next I would go visit him. Driving stresses me out so I took the bus.

The cost was the same as the round trip gas for my trailblazer and I was able to read and daydream on the ride.

It was sad when the weekend was over, but Tim always sent me home with the fresh bouquet he’d bought me over the weekend.

It was fun to tuck the well wrapped bouquet into the pocket of the seat in front of me…

Reading and daydreaming weren’t the only things I did on the bus trip. I have a rudimentary drawing app on my Kindle and one day I made a stick figure drawing for Tim.

It was such fun I drew more. Stick figure Tims and Megs became one of many expressions of my love for Tim. When we couldn’t cuddle, at least we could e-mail, text, talk on the phone, send snail mail cards and … make stick figure art! (click on any photo to see a slide show)

I even drew one to celebrate our marriage in July of 2012.

It’s funny how memories can come flooding back with just a touch (or sound or smell). I wonder what my stick figure Tims and Megs would look like drawn on the more advanced apps I have on my tablet now. Stay tuned, I might just find out!

I’d love to hear your random moments of delight. Please join in and share a post any time this week! You can use the linky or simply put a link to your post in a comment below. I don’t mind if you link with a post from another challenge either. This non-challenge is about sharing special moments with each other whatever form they may take (more info here). Don’t forget to put a link back here, in your post, so others may take part if they wish.

Thank you so much for visiting. Your comments warm my heart and put a smile in my day. And remember, don’t underestimate the power of a cuddle.

Thanks Y! It was so much better on the bus.. and it actually didn’t take that much longer, only two stops on the route. It’s funny, I only had my kindle for drawing on and it made the drawings so spontaneous because I couldn’t do much editing. I’m afraid to try it on my more sophisticated tablet. But I’m going to, I might be surprised.
