Random Moments of Delight #11: Blissful Bedding

This week we got new bedding… ah… I’m a happy girl.

Do you rejoice when you get a new set of sheets or a snazzy new comforter? I have a long history of changing up my bedding…

A set with winter colors and winter weight is always important…

And then when spring rolls around it’s time for a make-over to brighten the room!

And even though I absolutely adore that comforter (which I got for 50% off at Target), I was in the mood for a change when autumn rolled around.

Of course you can’t forget to dress your bed up for the holidays, red is always a good choice.

When I moved in with my husband only two of my comforters fit his gigantic California king bed. The first three shots above were taken at my apartment B.T. (before Tim).

Tim and I have worn out the red silk one you see above with Cooper and Jack on it. And we’ve had the poppy one (pic two) on the bed now for well over a year. We did indulge ourselves with two sets of high thread count sheets, but never bought a new comforter.

Last week the poppys pooped out. The thread keeping the stuffing in place disintegrated and when I took it out of the dryer it was all mangled. I had no hope that I would be able to find anything, even on-line, that would fit my budget, which was pretty much nothing.

And then the advertising on Facebook actually worked for once! I saw a bedding set on sale for $29? Really? It looked legit and the shipping was only $3 so I ordered it. I couldn’t believe it when it came and it was actually as advertised… I don’t know if I actually saved $121 like they say, but it is pretty awesome for $32.

It even works with my poppy pillowcases. I would have taken a picture of it when some of those wrinkles had smoothed out, but by then it would have all sorts of cat gak and dog hair on it so I took my shot when I could. All of you pet people know exactly what I mean.

So that is my random moment of delight for the week. Is it heavenly to sleep in? Absolutely! It’s even easy to throw off at three in the morning when I get one of those dreaded hot flashes. Big wink and a smile.

As always I welcome comments on this or any other part of my blog. I’d love to hear your random moments of delight. This challenge (or rather non-challenge) is about sharing special moments  with each other each week (read here for more info). Please put a link back here, in your post, so others may take part if they wish. Add your link to the list below and visit other people’s moments of delight!

Let me know about your favorite set of bedding!

Yes, that was back when I was single… (widowed) with only one son and a few cats… lots easier to keep the room tidy! 😉

No hurry! You have all week. As for a clean room, the pics you see of the whole room were when I was still single and had control over the place… 😉 The photo of the new bedding is showing only the bed on purpose… if I widened the shot you’d see my husband’s desk which looks like a hurricane hit! lol

Thanks so much Y! Would love to have you join in. The poppy comforter was all cotton, which is why I loved it so. The red one was silk (inherited from my son and his wife). This one is microfiber, so we’ll see how we do. But so far so good. I am planning on taking the stuffing out of the poppy one and making it more of a spread… good for hot summers.

That looks lovely and yes my bed is important to me I spend so much time in it or have due to the reasons you know but I love a nice lookong bed. Your bedroom looks soooo tidy! I feel like I need to blitz mine after seeing yours. My poor pug is sick now his bed isn’t looking so hot and he’s already had new bedding. Lucky he doesn’t get to go to my bedroom he snores too much. I’ve yet to find my random moment this week perhaps it will come to me during the day! Big hugs xx

I REALLY enjoyed this post. and the pictures were the best because it is one thing to describe bedding – but to see it (and the extras) brings it to life.

and yes! right there with you on the delight from the right sets – and funny – but one of my favs (a winter comforter) is also a Target 50% off one. and it is funny because I spent a lot of time shopping for that olive green one – and finally had to take a chance on this one – to then have it turn out perfect was a blessing.

anyhow, for our family we have to have all cotton – the microfiber is horrible for me – and even my kids hate it. but usually anything 100% cotton (and high thread count) is a hit.

well I am thinking of a post to add to your moments of delight “non-challenge”
    hmmmmm
I will be back when I have something.
    Have a great day.

I'd love to hear from you!
