Phoneography: Portraiture – Timothy

This week is challenger’s choice at lensandpensbysally’s phoneograpy challenge, and I’ve picked portraiture.

Portrait photography or portraiture is photography of a person or group of people that displays the expression, personality, and mood of the subject. ~Wikipedia

Here are three shots I took of my husband Tim that I think capture a lot of his personality. This is the Tim that I know and love.

My prince who wears overalls.

I posted all three shots to Instagram when they were taken, and for this challenge I’ve chosen to use them as they were originally processed. I feel like the treatments and frames that I used are part of what make them so charming…

I realize this last photo does not feature his face, so might not officially be a portrait, but it is so expressive of his giving essence I had to include it.

My husband with the open heart.

My partner with the loving heart.

I don’t know if videos are considered portraiture, but this is my prince charming, and it IS shot with my iPhone 4.* (If it doesn’t play, the link to it is here.)

As always I welcome your comments on this or any other part of my blog. For some awesome images taken with mobile phones, head on over to Sally’s place and check them out (here).

*The cover shot of Tim and me in the video (he in his motorcycle jacket) was taken by our friend and was actually the first portrait of the two of us together.

Thank you Janet. It truly is a shot of his heart. I didn’t have a photo of all the ‘strays’ (animals AND people) he’s taken under his wing so I hoped this would represent them all. And the first one IS actually Tim mowing… he’s towing a huge bush whacker mower behind the ATV clearing out some of the underbrush on the ranch. He had a blast doing it.

I like them all, Meghan, and they all say something lovely about him. The first one reminds me of my father-in-law, who loved his riding mower. I like the framing you used and that last photo is a shot of his heart.

Really nice take on portraiture. Adore the first and third. The third wins my heart, especially the way his arm is entangled with your dog. I do consider that a portrait, because it tells us something about him. Happy Phoneography Challenge.

I'd love to hear from you!
