I shot this photo on Sunday while we were eating lunch at Agave Maria’s Restaurant & Cantina in Ojai, CA.  My husband and I always stop at a lovely eatery when we take our weekend motorcycle rides.  I have a photo of every time we have eaten at a restaurant on any of our motorcycle rides for the past two years.  Even those we frequent often I find some shot or angle I haven’t used before.  They are all taken with my iPhone 4 and I upload to Instagram to document the place.

Yesterday at lunch on our (fabulous) ride, I kept in the back of my mind the Monday Phoneography Challenge.  There were these great umbrellas over all the tables on the patio and I simply pointed my phone up and started shooting.  I love the abstracted shapes the insides of the patio umbrellas make with their spokes and bright colors.  The dappled leaf shadows add an extra dimension of pattern and interest.  I played with the image on Snapseed to abstract them further.

I hope your enjoyed my choice.  As always I’d love to hear your comments on this post or any part of my blog.  See you next week with the next challenge!!!!

Meghan, I like that shot. I also enjoyed your title, “Abstracted Umbrellas.” I had a mental image of umbrellas wondering what they heck they’d gone outside to do. 🙂 I went with abstract this week, too. Great minds on the same photo track, I guess!
