Today Buffy kitty is the star of the phoneography show, and she is very pretty in pink.

One problem I have taking really good photos of my pets is background. So often Cooper pup is in a perfect pose, but when I grab my iPhone and start shooting I realize that the full trash can is behind his head. Or Jack cat is on his back totally relaxed with all four paws in the air and he’s on a pile of dirty socks. Let’s not even go into the times I’ve gotten great shots but the floor is really dirty.

I love it when they’re on the couch because it’s provides a rich solid brown background and the pet hair isn’t too noticeable. The other place to grab a great shot is when they’re on lovely fresh bedding.

Pretty green-eyed kitty.

Of course that usually means I’ve caught them sleeping. 😉

Pretty in Pink.

  1. I’ll keep looking and trying. Thanks. I get your comments to my blog but not your replies to me leaving you comments. I’ll keep calm and carry on. 😉

  2. Hmmmm… I have no idea! Even though I am self hosting, I should be showing up in your notifications on WP. For instance, I am on my own blog right now and up in the right by my name is my “notification” center and I see whenever anyone likes or comments on mine or responds to a comment I left. This notification center is also on when I’m in my WP Reader. And I don’t blame you about the email… I never subscribe to comments that way. I don’t know what to say? do you have any tech saavy WP blogger friends who might be able to help?

  3. I am not getting notified of your replies 🙁
If I check the Notify me of follow-up comments by email, I get everyone’s reply email. Got any words of wisdom? I’d like to see your replies but it’s too time consuming to keep coming back look. HELP, if you can. Thanks.

  4. Adorable! HA! I thought I was the only one who was hanging on to all those pet photos that can’t be used because of something else in the background. Now, if I knew how to photoshop or something I could probably fix them but…. oh, well! By the way, Jack is one handsome dude! 🙂

  5. Great shots! I’m the same – snapping some pics and then realizing there’s torn up stuffies in the background, or a mess of newspapers on the coffee table. Cropping! 🙂

  6. Too funny. And you’re right, a crop doesn’t always do the trick. Not that I haven’t used things like blur vignettes, and light leaks to help!

  7. Soft kitty, warm kitty, look at those green eyes, kitty!
Buffy is very coy with the camera, in the first. Totally down for the count in the second. Both fabulous. I know what you mean about the trash can, etc. I always find a coat hanging over a chair or whatever. Sometimes cropping doesn’t cut it. Excuse the pun.

  8. It’s wonderful that you used the animal theme. Both images show the qualities of cats that we love. Happy photo challenge.
