Nurturing Thursday: FireBonnet Found a Fairy Dress

I went bargain shopping at my local Goodwill this week and lo and behold I found a fairy dress just waiting for me!

I have amazing luck at thrift stores. When I get the urge to bargain hunt (maybe 4 times a year) I always find the perfect things! I was shopping for an outfit for my parent’s 60th anniversary party this summer. I not only found the perfect party frock, but a pair of overalls, just my size, and a magical dress to nurture my FireBonnet fairy self.

We the Fairies, blithe and antic,
Of dimensions not gigantic,
Though the moonshine mostly keep us,
Oft in orchards frisk and peep us.
~Thomas Randolph

I simply took it for granted that it would fit… since it was waiting for me. And it does… I’m ready to dance in the moonshine!

I found a wonderful instrumental piece, Granuaile’s Dance, performed by Máiréad Nesbitt of the group Celtic Woman. Please enjoy her fairy dance and the magical dress she wears. A side note, my full name is Máirghéad (pronounced “mah-raid”) so it was serendipitous to find this music!

I’m joining Becca Givens’ Nurturing Thursday. As always I am so pleased that you visited. Your comments warm my heart and put a smile in my day. :D

Ooooo, a dancing scarf. What a delightful thing to carry with you. It’s a beautiful color and seems to move with great grace. (if you can tell how a scarf moves by a still shot!)

I love that… foxy fairy… my husband would agree… one of his nicknames for me is ‘mixen’ which is a combination of minx and vixen. I missed dancing under that beautiful moon!

That is a GREAT story… I don’t blame you for not confessing… there are times when it is right and times when it’s better to just keep quiet. what a great shoe find!

I love Goodwill shopping too! Funny story about the one and only time I bought shoes at Goodwill – I found a pair of red, patent leather Coach loafers, unworn that had to come home with me and last week a woman stopped me in Nordstrom to say how much she loved them! She even said she liked them better than her new Gucci loafers. 🙂 I didn’t have it in me to confess I paid $20 instead of the $350 they cost new…

how awesome – and you “did” need to find the video – it fit seamlessly here in so many ways – and funny how things like this happen (spooky cool….ahhhhh)

Thank you Meg! I didn’t talk about my overalls, that was the other amazing find… my hubby and I are big overalls wearers when up on the ranch in Idaho. In the past I’ve had to alter men’s overalls. That there was a pair of women’s overalls, which actually fit my hips AND had been hemmed to the perfect length was the second small miracle of the day. Woohoo!

Thanks! I kept trying to purchase various Celtic Woman MP3s from Amazon and none of the purchases went through. I was hoping to just have music to play instead of a whole video. So finally I just said phooey and went looking for a certain song by them I liked on YouTube (The Voice)… and it just didn’t work like I wanted it to. I was getting so frustrated… then all of a sudden I saw her name and low a behold she is a fairy performer! Just perfect… no wonder I had such trouble buying the music… I needed to find the video.

Lovely — both your new dress and the fairy dance video! And a good reminder of the magic to be found in everyday life. Next time I go shopping, I’ll keep a lookout for whatever’s waiting for me!

It’s all the little bling… I’m pretty sure it is a dance dress as it has a leotard in it. There’s even bling on the panties!
