Google on Googly Fairy Friday

Did you know that Google can be fanciful?

I recently discovered that I have a bunch of my photos in something called Google Photos. Maybe other people are saying ‘duh’ and wondering where I’ve been, but I had no idea what this was. Apparently, since all my devices are synced through my Google account, the shots I take on my camera phone get uploaded to my personal cloud storage. What is fanciful is that every once in a while a googly fairy makes a few magical moves and creates something special from my images.

For example, I took a lot of shots of this lilac bush last spring. Unbeknownst to me the googly fairy added a lovely set of filters to this one shot. The effects give it the magical feel I always experienced when I saw the bush during those few weeks it bloomed.

That fanciful googly fairy also puts together similar shots to make animated gifs. Here Cooper conspires with that little imp and photobombs the flowers (backwards no less) … 😉

Google Photos’ “assistant” also makes stories and stitches together panoramic images… all at random and totally unexpected.

Since I recently began taking a photo a day (or 10 or 20) and posting it (Feel Good Photo of the Day) I have a few of these googly fairy creations by Friday. I thought it would be fun to feature the newest batch each week for a fanciful Friday festival.

Here is what the googly fairy conjured up this week from my photo shoots around the ranch. Three animations, two photo effect edits and one stitched together panorama.

A set of lovely effects on this photo of Cooper.

I hope you enjoyed learning about the googly fairy… you might even have one! Tune in again next Friday for more of her magical manipulations of my week’s phone photography (ok say that 10 times in a row quickly).

As always I am so pleased that you visited. Your comments warm my heart and put a smile in my day.

Try taking some new ones … if you do a series it’s more likely to come up with a gif. I’m having trouble getting my photos up upload to either one of my clouds right now because our wifi is crappy. Ah well, I’ll have to be my own googly fairy.

Yes Google Photos. I went to “assistant,” but it says I’m “all caught up.” And if I click on “view unsaved creations,” it says I have none. I feel like Google told me I couldn’t have dessert and I have no idea why.

Which cloud are you using? In the Google Photos cloud (not Google drive), there is an ‘assistant’ part of it that creates these animated gifs and panoramas and adds effects. BUT you don’t know which of your photos it’s going to happen to. I came up with the whimsical ‘googly fairy’. I have no idea what other cloud storage does.

OK…maybe I haven’t had enough coffee yet this morning, but I am totally confused by what you mean by this “google fairy.” Yes, I know my phone photos are backed up in the cloud, but beyond that I’m mystified. Care to educate the clueless?

I'd love to hear from you!
