Gasp, yes you read that right, a Slow Screw in Sunny Mexico. It’s the name of a drink my husband created for me *wink*.

Now to get in the proper mood to party, you might want to listen to this song by Linda Ronstadt… I think her Mexican music is some of her best! What a voice.

You can find the meaning of that toast here.

When my husband was courting me, and he TRULY took courting seriously, he made up a drink just for me.  I thought I’d share the recipe with you for Fiesta Friday… it will make your Friday night REALLY nice. Trust me πŸ˜‰ .

To get the full effect of the drink and to step up my game with the wonderful food photographers on Fiesta Friday at The Novice Gardener, I put together a photo shoot.

As the backdrop I used a beautiful painted wall hanging my husband bought when he was in Mexico City in 1987.

I gathered the alcohol, and arranged it with colorful fruit, and flowers from our backyard. I added a few bricks, and a heavy candlestick for that rustic look and to create height in the photo.

Now that the stage is set, let me introduce you to the slyly powerful…

I made fresh squeezed juice from gorgeous organic Valencia oranges.

And then garnished with a simple lime slice and of course a cherry! ;).

Tim and I made a toast to Fiesta Friday a little early and let the delicious subtle flavors take us away to sunny days in Mexico. Be careful when you try this though. It’s deceptively strong, with only the slightest taste of alcohol… your limbs will quickly melt and your words slightly slur… just enough to make everyone smile.

As always I am so pleased that you visited. Your comments warm my heart and put a smile in my day. :D

  1. Selma, you are in luck, I have a glass waiting just for you. Thank you so much for your marvelous comment. Yes, he is a keeper, I’m a lucky girl.

  2. Oh Megan – I am a little late to the party this week so I hope that there are a couple left for me! I love how you have staged the shoot and those glasses are rather fabulous! Your husband sounds like a keeper – what a sweet man he is – no less than you deserve, I am sure! Happy Fiesta Friday – now where did I put my glass….

  3. Aw, thank you Justine! I thought that title would widen a few eyes. I bet other participants of FF aren’t quite sure what to make of me yet. The drink definitely takes courage (honestly, as lovely as my husband is for designing it for me, it is way to sweet… my blood sugar can’t handle it! πŸ˜‰ )

  4. I know! What a name… (he keeps asking me what people are saying about this post and his drink…) Thank you so much!

  8. OMG and he hasn’t trademarked that name? Better hurry, all the bars will try to steal it. Sounds refreshing, and the photos are so festive, Meghan. Really get me in the mood for a fiesta! Let’s party! πŸ™‚

  9. You are so welcome! I have to admit, drinking them on Wednesday (when I did the photo shoot) was a little to early in the week for me! Much better on a Friday. πŸ˜‰

  10. I don’t think I’ll ever be a food photographer! I was commenting to Tim that it was kind of a pain and it was only a drink! lol But I did really like the style and festive, rustic, busyness of the whole thing.

  11. Thank you! I thought festive flowers, fruit and booze fit the mood this week for me, and I’d bring the mood along. πŸ˜€

  12. OMG! You have totally set the mood for us with your photos and drink! I’ll have one for sure! Gracias for bringing all this to Fiesta Friday! πŸ™‚

  13. Thanks Judith! Tennessee Honey is one of our favorites if we ever do nightcaps. But it is so sweet I haven’t had it in awhile. It is truly yummy though. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!

  14. And that is just one of the many things he did during those 6 months. Flowers, cards, cooking for me, massages… what a prince.

  15. Aw, thanks Mr Fitz. And thank you for being a co-host. I already know Justine, she’s the one who brought me to the party so it is nice to meet you. I’m really pleased at how the photos turned out. πŸ˜€

  16. Love your word play Paricia! Yes, it is a drink for only once in awhile. Talk about spiking the blood sugar! πŸ˜‰ But hey, it’s a party.
