Gasp, yes you read that right, a Slow Screw in Sunny Mexico. It’s the name of a drink my husband created for me *wink*.
Now to get in the proper mood to party, you might want to listen to this song by Linda Ronstadt… I think her Mexican music is some of her best! What a voice.
When my husband was courting me, and he TRULY took courting seriously, he made up a drink just for me. I thought I’d share the recipe with you for Fiesta Friday… it will make your Friday night REALLY nice. Trust me 😉 .
To get the full effect of the drink and to step up my game with the wonderful food photographers on Fiesta Friday at The Novice Gardener, I put together a photo shoot.
As the backdrop I used a beautiful painted wall hanging my husband bought when he was in Mexico City in 1987.
I gathered the alcohol, and arranged it with colorful fruit, and flowers from our backyard. I added a few bricks, and a heavy candlestick for that rustic look and to create height in the photo.
Now that the stage is set, let me introduce you to the slyly powerful…
- 1 ounce Galliano
- 1 ounce Tequila
- 1 ounce Tennessee Honey liqueur
- 7 ounces OJ (or to taste)
- Mix alcohol together
- Pour over ice
- Garnish it with an orange or lime slice, bright red cherry or whatever else tickles your fancy.
- Fresh squeezed orange juice gives a great depth of taste to the drink.
I made fresh squeezed juice from gorgeous organic Valencia oranges.
And then garnished with a simple lime slice and of course a cherry! ;).
Tim and I made a toast to Fiesta Friday a little early and let the delicious subtle flavors take us away to sunny days in Mexico. Be careful when you try this though. It’s deceptively strong, with only the slightest taste of alcohol… your limbs will quickly melt and your words slightly slur… just enough to make everyone smile.
As always I am so pleased that you visited. Your comments warm my heart and put a smile in my day.
I invite you to join the party at:
