Black and white photos can elicit feelings of other worldliness and fantasy.
Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It’s a way of understanding it.

I’ve been reflecting on fairies ever since I found these wonderful mushrooms in my forest the other day.
Today is Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge featuring black and white. As I transformed some of the shots of the mushrooms I took into black and whites, I was reminded of the 1917 photos of fairies by two young girls. Does anyone else remember them? The photos were subsequently debunked, but I still find the shots full of fantasy. The fairies were cutouts that the girls posed with, but what a delicious idea! Click on the photo to find out more of the story.
Here are the images I played with on my iPhone trying to evoke that feeling of other worldliness.
Don’t you think they’re magical enough to attract all sorts of fairies?
My fairy fantasy was helped by Photoshop, not cutouts, but full of whimsy just the same.
As always I am so pleased that you visited. Your comments warm my heart and put a smile in my day.
Oh, and for those of you who can’t quite make out the fairies in black and white, see if this helps…
