It’s D for Drink today and I’d love to know your choice of liquor, spirits, hootch, tipple or booze!

What better day than Friday to think about our favorite drinks?

Are you a wine lover?

drink wine

I like a glass of red wine at dinner on occasion. Since I don’t have a sophisticated palette, I’m a sucker for a great label.

As for liquor, I’m a tequila drinker when out dining. I do like salt with my classic margarita, but I mix it up now and then. One of my favorite recipes at home is tequila with unsweetened cranberry juice and pineapple juice… and of course the glass makes it that much more appealing. 😉

I’m not one for fruity margaritas, but when we visited the Lochsa Lodge in Idaho on our motorcycle trip this past July, they had a huckleberry margarita to die for!

Of course it helped that we were sweaty from a long ride. And the view from our table was stupendous!

I tried to recreate the margarita when we got back to California but was unsuccessful. I guess we’ll just have to go back to the Lochsa Lodge for that little lovely!

My try at a Huckleberry Margarita
My try at a Huckleberry Margarita, lots of liquor not much taste!

My husband designed a drink in my honor that is quite potent. It’s pretty high in sugar so we only bring it out for special occasions. But the title is worth the sugar shock! 😉

1 ounce Galliano

1 ounce Tequila

1 ounce Tennessee Honey liqueur

7 ounces OJ (or to taste)

Pretty it up with an orange slice, bright red cherry and whatever else tickles your fancy.

Now it’s your turn.  What fancy drink have you made up?  Or has someone made up for you.  And it does NOT need to be alcoholic. Whatever floats your boat is welcome here. And as always, I’d love to hear your comments on this or any other part of my blog.

for Drink, as in liquor!

  1. “Sex on the beach with Maggie”…my local bar put it on the menu because I got that many people drinking it, of course I’d have preferred they’d called it “sex on the beach with Bacardi” which is what is was…but that would have spoilt their fun and you’ve got take you 15 minutes of fame where you can, I suppose…I was young and daft.

  2. Ha, my bff is a milkshake junkie… well, in recovery. 😉
Classic vanilla huh? If I’m doing a shake it needs to have some kind of chocolate! Thanks so much for commenting!

  3. I’m honestly not much of a drinker, haha. Whenever I go to blogging events I’m the only one not drinking whine it seems, but that’s okay. I do like more fruity drinks though (Fuzzy Navels are probably my favorite). My drink of choice, however, is milkshake! I love them, which isn’t a surprise considering my love for ice cream, haha. Classic vanilla and cake batter are my two favorites.

  4. oh my goodness – this part was so funny = “Since I don’t have a sophisticated palette, I’m a sucker for a great label…” = haha
and I was surprised to see that you enjoyed tequila – well not surprised – but would have thought you a gin and tonic kind of gal.
and for me – not a big drinker – but like porter style beer – or amber ale – and a dry red wine (like the cabernet in your first photo). 🙂
    have a nice day Meghan…

  5. I’m going with Dunkin Donuts Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Coffee. Sadly, they tell me it’s seasonal, so it’s not around anymore. I’m settling for Brown Sugar Cake Coffee in my Keurig.

  6. Paricia, it sounds like you have some luscious drinks in your day. I love green tea as well as cranberry juice. I’m a ‘drink tons of water’ kind of a girl so tea and just plain old filtered water are my drinks of choice every day.

  7. Tell me the box wine you found! That might be better than bottles when on the road. We get a case of Charles Shaw cabernet at Trader Joe’s. Ends up a good price for tasty red.

  8. Red wine for sure. I’m a wineaholic. LOL And I too like a cute label, although we have found an excellent wine box, that way you don’t run out so fast. Our favorite discovery, the golden margarita from Costco. We were paying $20 plus for a bottle of this, then found it at Costco for $10. We buy a case and stock up when we need to.

  9. Since I don’t drink anything but red wine when I go out to dinner, or an occasional, extremely occasional, margarita, I’m not much of an expert on drinking alcohol. My preference for daily drinks is alka water, green tea, cranberry juice, V-8, and a vegetable/fruit concoction I whip up in the blender. They’re not exciting, but they taste good to me.
